gilsonite (natural bitumen)

Gilsonite (Natural Bitumen) – Low, Medium & High Ash Grades — Export from Iran

Available in Forms: Lump & Prilled – Ash Content: <10%, 10–15%, >15%

Gilsonite, also known as Natural Bitumen or Asphaltite, is a naturally occurring solid hydrocarbon resin mined from the earth. It is highly soluble in hydrocarbons, offers excellent adhesion, and provides thermal stability, making it ideal for industrial, oilfield, and manufacturing applications.

We supply premium-quality Gilsonite from trusted Iranian mines, available in Lump and Prilled forms, classified by ash content for specific industrial uses. Complies with international quality standards and suitable for bulk export to global markets.

Note: Gilsonite is classified by softening point and ash content. Lower ash = higher purity = better performance in coatings, inks, and foundry applications.

Key Notes

  • Low Ash Gilsonite (<10%): High purity, used in inks, coatings, foundry, and electrodes.
  • Medium Ash (10–15%): Balanced performance for drilling mud and asphalt modification.
  • High Ash (>15%): Economical grade for fuel blending and industrial applications.
  • Solubility: Fully soluble in toluene and aromatic solvents — excellent for formulations.
  • Available in custom mesh sizes: 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 80 mesh upon request.
  • Pre-shipment inspection by SGS included for every shipment.

Applications

  • Oil & Gas: Lost circulation material (LCM) in drilling muds
  • Foundry: Sand additive for core molds and coatings
  • Paints & Inks: Binder and gloss enhancer in industrial coatings
  • Road Construction: Modifier for asphalt concrete (HMA)
  • Rubber & Plastics: Filler and UV stabilizer
  • Electrodes: Carbon additive in graphite electrodes
  • Fuel Blending: Solid fuel additive for boilers and furnaces
